Sidney Nolan #2
Sidney Nolan in his studio.
"Sidney Nolan often worked flat on a bench, rather than an easel, and used binoculars back to front and on the top rung of a step ladder to get an idea of perspective and depth."
"This is Sidney’s last studio and the only one to remain in situ. The studio is a fascinating time capsule, untouched for 25 years, and a place that bears witness to his endless experimentation and curiosity, his urge to move on, to try something different.
.
Unlike the rest of the Rodd, the studio was a private place. Entry was by invitation only. It is typically cramped and utilitarian - Sidney would use the larger adjacent barn, now the Gallery, when working on big canvases."
