Strik werkte in Indonesië aan de serie ‘Decipher the Artist’s Mind’ die draait om onderzoeken en ontrafelen. Hoe krijg je greep op het beweeglijke territorium van de kunst? Wat blijft er achter in het atelier van een kunstenaar als die er zelf niet (meer) is? Voor deze serie maakt Berend foto’s van ateliers van kunstenaars en vult zo’n ‘objectieve’ foto met dat wat niet zichtbaar is. Hij haalt op deze manier visueel naar boven wat een studio vasthoudt aan gedachten en ideeën die daar zijn ontstaan. Dat doet hij door middel van toevoegen van draad en textiel op de foto, materiaal waar Strik zeer bekend mee is.
