Markus Raetz #1

Atelier van Markus Raetz,1999.

"Markus’s studio in Bern is always intriguing to explore, and full of invention for visual amusement. The objects are placed in such a way as to be discovered and rediscovered. A sculpture lies in wait to surprise the visitor. A man’s head stands on a column but, from another vantage point, has turned upside down! At eye level, small, suspended tokens whizz round or float lazily in warm air currents drifting from skirting radiators. There are many works in progress, many variations on themes using different materials, including 3-D puzzles with letters of the alphabet, mirror games and mobiles. Constructed with just two carefully selected twigs planted on a record turntable, Raetz creates a swaying torso: visual music."
